USF Men's Golf Team Shares Lead After 36 Holes in AAC Championship

The University of South Florida men's golf team is tied for the lead after the first two rounds of the American Athletic Conference Championship. Junior Jake Peacock shares the individual lead at 135 (-5) after shooting a 66 (-4), matching his best score as a Bull. The 48th-ranked Bulls had a strong second round, with three players shooting under par, including Senior Sam Nicholson and Graduate Student Brock Healy, who are tied for sixth place at 138 (-2).

In the second round, USF shot 271 (-9), the lowest team score in the tournament, helping them climb three spots on the leaderboard. The Bulls racked up 20 birdies, bringing their total score to 552 (-8) ahead of the final round. They lead the tournament with 127 pars and have excelled in par four and par three scoring.

Peacock's 66 (-4) in the second round, with five birdies and one bogey, moved him six spots up the leaderboard. Healy's impressive jump of 25 spots was thanks to his 66 (-4), tying his second-best score with a back nine of 32 (-3). Nicholson also improved his position with a 68 (-2), moving up nine spotsspots.

Junior Shubham Jaglan's 71 (+1) contributed to the Bulls' overall score, placing him 19th with a two-round total of 141 (+1). Redshirt Junior Cooper Smith remains consistent, tied for 29th with back-to-back rounds of 72 (+2).

South Florida aims to secure its sixth American Athletic Conference championship in 10 years, with the final round on Sunday, streaming live on ESPN+.
